Kinds / Types / Classification Of Subsidiary Ledgers Or Subledgers In Accounting

Subsidiary Ledger or Subledger is used to shows individuals ledgers’ accounts separately in order to avoid the difficulty of handling the so many ledger accounts in one single Control Ledger Account.



The Main types of Subsidiary Ledgers are Accounts Receivable Subsidiary Ledger, Accounts Payable Subledgers, Sales Subsidiary Ledger, Purchases Subsidiary Ledger, Inventory Subsidiary Ledger and Fixed Assets Subledger.







Each Subledger is controlled by a Control or Master Ledger Account. For example, all of the customers accounts, to whom the company received payments, are controlled in Accounts Receivable Account, all of the vendors or suppliers accounts are collectively maintained in Accounts Payable Account, etc.
