Difference Between Public Service Announcement And Advertisement

 

Public Service Announcement (PSA) is a non profit marketing technique in which non profit Advertisements or commercials are run on television or radio, newspapers, etc for the welfare of the community or society in order to create awareness about a cause as in the case of disasters such as Earthquake, Floods, etc. Usually, the ads on television or radio or other mediums are run free of cost.

Advertisement is a ad which is published on newspapers or on websites for the promotion and selling of goods or services. There may be a profit-making paid marketing advertisements or commercials and such ads runned on television or other mediums may convince the viewers or buyers to buy some goods or services.

The main aim of public service announcement is to create awareness among people through a message and not to raise money from non profit advertising while the primary purpose of advertisements or commercials is to promote and selling of goods or services through ads in order to earn profits from Sales made.
