Similarities & Differences Between Operating Expenses And Non-Operating Expenses

Operating Expenses And Non-Operating Expenses
Operating Expenses are related with the day to day business operations. Examples are Rent Expenses, Salaries Paid, Marketing And Selling Expenses, Administrative Expenses, etc. These are recorded in Statement of comprehensive or Income Statement or Profit And Loss Account for the period. These are Temporary Accounts so closed to income statement at the end of the accounting period.

Non Operating Expenses are not related with the business operations. Examples are Loss on the sale of Fixed Assets, Restructuring Expenses, etc. These are also shown on Income Statement as these are temporary accounts.
