Prepaid Rent Is A Nominal Account Or A Real Account Or A Personal Account

Prepaid Rent / Unexpired Rent or Rent Paid In Advance is not a Nominal Account as it shows that rent which is paid in advance by the company to landlord and against which still the services or benefits are not received by the company during the accounting period.

Prepaid rent is also not a Real Account as it is concerned with living or natural persons.

Prepaid rent is a representative personal account which is a kind of personal account. Prepaid rent represents all of the landlords or owners to whom the company paid rent in advance during the accounting period. So, the term “Prepaid Rent” is created.

So, we can say that Prepaid Rent is a Personal Account but it is not related with nominal and real accounts.
