Difference Between Phrase And Clause

What is Clause
A clause is the combination of subject and verb that can express a meaningful sentence without the use of any adverb or phrases or extension of predicate. For Example, He speaks the
truth, is an example of Clause where āHeā is a subject while āspeakā is an transitive verb that are enough to express a meaningful thoughts of expression. āthe truthā is the phrase or extension
of the predicate that further explains the expression of thought i.e., He speaks but what speak, āTruthā.
The above sentence can also be expressed as, āHe always speaks the truthā Here always is the always is the adverb that adds the meaning of the sentence.
What is Phrase
A phrase is a group of words that itself can not express a meaningful thought but when combines with the clause it adds more explanation to the meaning of clause.
For Example, He is sitting on a chair is a sentence in which he is sitting is a clause while on a chair is a phrase.
So, a clause is mixture of Subject and Verb while a phrase needs to be combine with the clause to make meaning of Clause more effective and more explained.
