Types of Trial Balance


Trial Balance Types / KindsThere are four types of Trial Balance. These are explained below:













(i) Unadjusted Trial Balance



It is the simplest and basic form of trial balance. It shows the unadjusted value of Different Types of Accounts at the end of the accounting period.




(ii) Adjusted Trial Balance



It shows the balances of accounts after recording Adjusting Entries. All the Accrual And Deferrals, Temporary Accounts And Permanents Accounts are Recorded at the adjusted value due to the adjustments made on these accounts during the accounting period.




(iii) Extended Trial Balance



It is the combination of both unadjusted and adjusted trial balances to shows us the better results about accounts’s balances by comparing the unadjusted values and unadjusted values side by side. So, it provides more details than the simple unajusted trial balance as it is an extension to a basic trial balance.


(iv) Post Closing Trial Balance



It shows the finalized accounts’balances of Permanents Accounts only before starting the new accounts period. It is prepared after recording Closing Entries to show us what will be the position or the closing balances of Assets, Liabilities and Equity on the next accounting period.
